playing with fondant

This was my goal. To create a cupcake that looked like this for my friend's bridal shower. Her wedding colors are pink and black, and I figured this cupcake design was perfect. I figured, how hard can it be?

It is a lot harder than it looks. TRUST ME!

Fondant is not hard to use, it is just interesting. It is a weird substance. Looks kind of like a snowman!

Roll the fondant in your hand, and work with it.

If you are planning on coloring your fondant, make sure to get it ready!

Place some cornstarch down for rolling your fondant.

If you plan on using food coloring, just take a toothpick and dot the fondant with your choice of color till you get the shade you desire.

I wanted pink!

Cover the cupcake with buttercream icing. This will help the fondant stick to the cupcake!

Decide how much fondant you need to cover your cupcake...

Place the cupcake that was covered in buttercream over the fondant. Then smooth the fondant out.

Now your cupcake is ready for decorations!

Be careful, or the food coloring will dye your hands colors!
